WHY WE NEED TO MOISTURISE OUR BODY

Did you know that water actually dehydrates your skin? Drink it, and you'll be hydrated. Bathe / shower in it, and you'll be dehydrated. When it is, your skin will likely suffer from irritation and dryness.  Rescue your skin from dryness by diligently applying a body moisturiser every day. You should moisturise as soon as you step out of the shower – within 60 seconds, in fact. Pat your body dry with a towel – do not rub – but leave it slightly damp.  Then slather on your moisturiser. The moisturiser will lock in the water on your still-damp skin, which boosts hydration and water levels in the skin.

HOW DO I CHOOSE THE RIGHT BODY MOISTURISER

As with the skin on our face, the skin on the rest of our bodies differes immensely and choosing something that is right for your skin type is essential.  A lotion is typically the lightest, lowest viscosity formula, though QED's lotions contact  essential skin-nourishing oils and will therefore deeply nourish and hydrate whilst still a lighter lotion based forumulation.

Body butters are much thicker in consistency and best used on those areas prone to dryness and cracking such as elbows, heels and hands. Butters are great for protecting the skin against the elements in winter or leaving on skin overnight to soak in and replenish.  For those with extremely dry skin or skin conditions like excemsa and psoriasis, we highly recommend the Jojoba Indulgent Body Cream and the Jojoba everywhere balm which have been proven to calm sensitive skin and super hydrate without irritation.   All of our products are unscented however should you choose to customise with our signature scents, do so freely knowing that they are made of 100% essential oils that are safe for the most sensitive skin in mind.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I MOISTURISE MY BODY

Dermatologist best practice for those with ezcema / psoriasis suggests that you  should moisturise your entire body daily in order to avoid any flare ups, avoid overly hot showers/ baths and be diligent with your moisturising ! Daily moisturising is also recommended for normal skin types just make sure you choose the right moisturiser for your skin.
