WHY DO I NEED TO EXFOLIATE

Exfoliation is an essential part of your skin care routine - the main purpose of an exfoliant is to remove dead skin cells, dirt and oil build up and open up your pores. This allows your skin to absorb hydrating moisturisers more easily.  Exfoliating can also stimulate skin cell regeneration to help delay the signs of ageing and keep your skin feeling fresh.

HOW DO I CHOOSE AN EXFOLIATER

Understand your skin type as this is crucial when choosing the right exfoliator for you.  There are 2 types of exfoliators, Physical exfoliators and Chemical exfoliators.  A Physical exfoliator is "granual" based whereas a Chemical exfoliator contains an ingredient that "dissolves" excess skin cells (eg AHA, BHA etc.). For Sensitive / Delicate  / Mature skin you need to choose a gentle exfoliator that won't be too abrasive and damage your skin like our Wrinkle Rewind Gentle exfoliator which contains perfectly round Jojoba beads which are gentle for sensitive skin.  For Oily / Combination skin you need a more assertive exfoliator that will thoroughly clean clogged and enlarged pores effectively. Make sure you choose products that are microbead free ... keeping our environment safe !

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I EXFOLIATE

Everybody’s skin is unique and can react differently to exfoliating but we recommend for Oily / Combination skin no more than 3 times a week and for Sensitive / Delicate / Mature skin once to twice a week.  Over exfoliating can not only damage skin but for those with oily skin can also lead to over production of oil as skin feels under attack.
