• Avoid common Sensitive Skin triggers in your skincare. Opt for products that are fragrance-free, paraben-free and generally contain minimal ingredients.
  • Avoid overdoing your skincare routine with too many products.  Keep it simple by Cleansing, occasional exfoliating and hydrating with a moisturiser and/or suitable treatment mask.
  • Use the richest possible products.  When you increase the moisture in your skin, you increase your skin’s resilience to triggers.
  • Never (EVER) use a Foaming Cleanser. Lathery cleansers which make your skin feel tight are actually stripping your skin.  This means that instead of moisturising your nice, clean skin, your moisturiser has to undo the damage caused by your cleanser.
  • Use a Cleansing Oil or Milk. The best options for sensitive skin are gentle oil-based or no-rinse cleansers that will cleanse and treat whilst also calming flare-ups and skin redness.
  • Avoid Hot & Cold Water when washing your face.  Both extremes can trigger sensitivities. Only use lukewarm water on your face and not too much. Water will dehydrate your skin hence why oil and no-rinse cleansers are the best options.
  • Don't over-exfoliate.  Once or twice a week is enough & only use a gentle scrub to avoid flare-ups.
  • Avoid aggressively towelling your face dry. Pat dry instead with a clean towel.  Always use a clean towel as germs collate quicker than you think on towels and you don't want these passed onto your face.
  • Patch-test new products before using them. Those with sensitive skin are not always aware of their triggers and skin can be more unpredictable so always patch-test first and one product at a time.
  • Choose products with as few ingredients as possible.  Less ingredients mean less potential triggers.  Avoid ingredients that you don’t need and don't be fooled by new, fad ingredients.
